Comunidad Bíblica de la Gracia (Grace Bible Community Church), located in Belén, Costa Rica, was founded in 1985 with its very first meeting held in a wooden house belonging to Clarence and Elnora Befus, on the property where the main building of Colegio Palabra de Vida now stands. The small gathering was led by Luis Cabezas, with music provided by Alonso Cabezas and Pastor José Guevara, who also brought the message that day. There were 25 people in attendance, and the first Sunday School class was taught by Cecilia Guevara, mother of Juan Chaves.

From these humble beginnings, the church grew steadily under the leadership of Pastor José Guevara — Juan’s grandfather — and in 2006 moved into its own building in downtown Belén. Since its foundation, the church has remained committed to sound biblical teaching and to living out the message of God’s grace in every area of life.

Firmly rooted in the gospel revealed through Jesus Christ and taught in the Scriptures, Comunidad Bíblica de la Gracia emphasizes doctrinal depth and a life marked by grace, love, and truth — both within the church and in outreach to others.
