Dear friends and ministry partners,
On February 24, we arrived in Paraguay, and now—just over threeweeks later—we are settling into this new season the Lord has givenus.
These first weeks in Ciudad del Este have been focused on adjusting, connecting with the local church, and learning how life works here.At the same time, we’ve begun the residency process, navigatingpaperwork and offices, while also exploring the city to understanddaily life and prepare for the future.
We are currently looking for a home, seeking a place that is safe and also strategic for building relationships and ministry. Emma has also resumed homeschooling, and we’re thankful she is doing well in this transition.
This season has included its challenges. One difficult experience was being overcharged at a police office while processing documents. Moments like this remind us that we are in a different context and need the Lord’s wisdom as we learn to navigate it.
At the same time, we’ve been greatly encouraged by the people here. Paraguayans have been warm, kind, and welcoming, and living in the triple border region has exposed us to a rich blend of cultures that shapes daily life.
In ministry, we’ve already been able to participate in church activities, and soon we will support a new church plant nearby. We also continue developing the online Bible Institute, where we launched our first course this month with students from different countries. Though the group is still small, we are encouraged and excited about its potential.
Our desire is to focus on intentional discipleship through relationships, building connections that open doors for the gospel.
We would greatly appreciate your prayers:
For our family’s adaptation
For Emma’s schooling
For finding a home and a vehicle
For the immigration process and health insurance
We also ask you to pray as we continue working toward our support goal—we are currently about 30% below where we need to be. Thank you to each of you who are already partnering with us.
We are especially grateful for the Gonzalez family, who are hosting us during this time. Their generosity has been a great blessing. We are also thankful for the GMI team members in Paraguay and key individuals from the local church who have been a tremendous help to us during these first weeks.
Thank you for your prayers and for walking with us in what God is doing here in Paraguay.
With love in Christ, Juan, Lucre, Emma & Lucas
The Chaves Family
