Dear friends and ministry partners,
Warm greetings from the United States! Since arriving here on July 4th, we have felt embraced by the love and generosity of God’s people. These first few days in the U.S. have already reminded us of the importance of partnership in the body of Christ, and we are so grateful for every one of you who reads, prays, and walks with us in this journey.
We are currently in Michigan, where we’re connecting with churches and preparing for a full schedule of travel and conferences. At the end of August, we plan to head west to participate in several missions conferences and church visits. This is all part of our continued process of building our support team and sharing about what God is calling us to do in Paraguay and South America.

Trusting God in New Ways
One of the most stretching (and exciting!) parts of this season is presenting our ministry in English — something we are doing for the very first time. It’s been a humbling experience that continues to grow our faith and dependence on the Lord. We are reminded daily that it is not our words, but God’s Spirit, who moves hearts.
We are still in a transition season, between leaving our full-time ministry and professional careers in Costa Rica and preparing to launch to Ciudad del Este, Paraguay, in early 2026. It’s a season filled with change, learning, and anticipation — but also with the grace of God and the strength of His promises.
Ministry in Paraguay — Our Calling
Our hearts are focused on Paraguay. We are so excited about the ministry that awaits us there, serving alongside the Grace Ministries International (GMI) team, reaching a strategic region where Paraguay, Brazil, and Argentina meet. This tri-border area is rich in culture and filled with spiritual need. We long to contribute to evangelism, discipleship, church planting, and the development of leaders who will carry the message of God’s grace further than we could ever go ourselves.
Please join us in praying for the current missionaries, local leadership, and the people of Paraguay — that the gospel would continue to transform lives and that God would prepare the way for our family to join and serve effectively.

Our Ministry Objectives
As we prepare to serve in Paraguay, we carry with us the calling and passion that God has shaped over many years of ministry in Costa Rica. Our goals include discipleship, sharing the gospel, and equipping the next generation through youth ministry and leadership training. We also hope to help relaunch the online Grace Bible Institute (Instituto Bíblico de la Gracia) in Spanish, providing accessible theological education for Latin America. In addition, we plan to use our skills in graphic design and digital content to create Christ-centered resources that can be used across Spanish-speaking countries, supporting churches, leaders, and missionaries throughout the region.
Prayer Requests
Here are some specific ways you can be praying for us:
- 🙏 For this new season of transition — that God may grant us wisdom, peace, and strength as we adjust to a different culture, language, and rhythm of life.
- 🚗 For safety as we travel across the U.S. to connect with churches, families, and partners in ministry.
- 💵 For the fundraising process — we are currently at 30% of our needed monthly support, and we are also trusting God for two key financial needs:
- A reliable vehicle for ministry in Paraguay ($22,000)
- Initial set-up costs for our move ($5,000)
- A reliable vehicle for ministry in Paraguay ($22,000)
- 🏡 For our family and ministry left behind in Costa Rica — that the seeds sown would continue to bear fruit, and that the local church would remain strong and focused.
- 🕊 For Comunidad Bíblica de la Gracia, our home church in Costa Rica — may the Lord guide and bless its leadership and continue using it for His glory.
- 🇵🇾 For Paraguay — pray for open doors, open hearts, and a fruitful ministry when we arrive.
God has always been faithful, and we continue to place our full trust in His provision, knowing He moves through the hearts of His people.
You Are Part of This
We cannot do this without you. Your prayers, encouragement, and friendship are vital to this mission. We are incredibly thankful for each of you—your support makes it possible for us to take this next step in faith. You are part of our team, and your role is just as significant as ours. May God bless you richly for your generosity, love, and obedience to Him.
We also want you to know that we are praying for you. Whether you are a church leader, a friend, a family member, or a prayer partner, you are in our hearts.
Our Family
As we walk forward, we desire that Christ will always be the center of our lives, both as a family and as a ministry. With so many responsibilities and activities, it’s easy to lose sight of what matters most. We are committed to keeping our children, Emma and Lucas, as our first disciples, teaching them to love and serve Jesus with all their hearts.
Thank you again for being part of this journey with us. If you’d like to connect personally, hear more about the ministry, or invite us to your church, please reach out!
In Christ,
The Chaves Family
Juan, Lucrecia, Emma, and Lucas
